Still no line-up announced for BVI Music Fest 2013

-Committee refusing to release any official information to media

One thing is for sure the BVI music Festival 2013 is still on at this stage but what about the many unanswered questions about the festival for this time around?.

Today is May 1, 2013 and, according to  the festival's website, the show is on from May 24 - 26, 2013 in Cane Garden Bay.

For many persons, their attending the musical festival is heavily dependent on the artiste/s who will be gracing the stages but this too is another mystery at this stage.

But could it be that the organisers have  a surprising wowing experience for patrons this year? This is a question Virgin Islands News Online was hoping to get an answer to when contacting the Music Festival Executive Producer Rhodni Skelton earlier today May 1, 2013. He, however, chose not to officially release  any information but stated that the information kit with "every last detail" is likely to be out sometime in the new week.

"We are not putting out anything before the kits go out, thanks," Mr skelton said.

The committee has stated on its Facebook page that it is gearing up for one of the most memorable BVI Music Festivals ever. "We wouldn't test your patience much longer and will launch our new features within a few days. In the meantime go ahead, make your plans to be in the BVI from May 24-26! We are going to have a great time."

Only locals need to know, visitors done booked from last year. Try to find a room in the bay. Only a few left. The thing isn't a party for us is a event for tourists and they come regardless of the lilineup.

St kits out our there early because their government gives almost 500k early every year and they know how important it is. But here the government clueless. Listening to ignorant posts on blogs from people who don't understand economics.

I am looking forward to this year no matter who dem bring.

Ya talking crap, this committee has a no confidence vote from government, the business community and the Cane Garden Bay community. When the other committee run dat ting they had sponsorship.

Why gov't hiding the last financial report? Pure shame, this is not a music fest it's a music mess and a very bad investment for government. Why give a half a million to a committee with no qualification!!!

They get 150,000 that isnt enough. F. Mahoney get 500,000. The government only just give the people the money. it isnt Skelton fault. they did all the planning from last year. Is the government who lofting! Skelton have the same qualification as Mahony or Pops. Stop chat ish!

Our excellent talent in Huggins. I was surprised to hear Huggins sing opera like Pavoratti and the like. He sure had me gone last year when he came on stage. he was dressed to boot - no ragamuffin performance. Wow, what a performance it was till I was left speechless. No jump up and wuk up. I hope the HLSCC use him for their classical series. Great and classy and I hope the music fest committee brings him back. That's our own.

"Go Sit Down" Cancel the Music Fest for this year and take the time to pull off a great one next year. Music Fest hasn't been good since the days when Mahoney was in charge. People were envious and figured they could do a better job. HMMMM!!! Not impressed anymore. Unless you have artists worth seeing and the ambience of using the beach rather than a cage, forget about it this year!

Its not the committee fault...they plan long time. its the government who aint put out the money early. so they lose a lot ah sponsors. Use your heads and see what going on for real. Dont blame Rodni and his committee. I know for sure they plan since last year and meet with the Premier since last year too. The government just have no vision unless its a white man involved.

Why are the majority of the pictures show someone grabbing their crotches ? the catch somthing ? This is why the Fest keeps going down hill. Can't believe the government put tax payers monies up for this kind of entertainment.

St. Kitts Music FEST is in June, and the line up is advertised on the internet, and other media outlets. They know that they have to market the event to bring people to St. Kitts, another do it well every year. Also, included in marketing the event well in advance is St. Lucia, Jamaica and Curacao. Only the BVI can't get the BVI Festival and the Music Fest, two yearly events organized in time to properly market these two very important events. Everything is done haphazard, and last minute. That is the reason we get mediocre results. This is a continuous national disgrace. The committee members need to mobilize the various communities to rally around and support these events. They cannot operate in isolation for self aggrandizement. These are community efforts.

Why not confirm local artiste such as Bandura (Mr. Huggins) who is talented and professional people. Guest would definitely enjoy his performance. This young man has performed in China, and the people there appreciated him, so why not put him on the same scale or even higher and pay him the money that you paying overseas people too. Let us support our own.

Not enough time to properly advertise and market the Music Fest. BVI Music Fest Committee need to take a page out of St. Kitts and other Caribbean islands that host yearly Music Festivals. If BVI not going to be serious about this event they should just bow out and leave it alone. We can't go on like this year after year with mediocre line up of artists and the haphazard organization of the event. Anyone see St. Kitts artists line up for their Music Fest which is scheduled for the end of June? The event is well advertised and marketed globally.. Why can't we get anything right? Come on wake up, we really have to address this territory's shortcomings on practically everything we do.
