UPDATE: Frankie Alphonso grateful to man who ‘saved’ him
Virgin Islands News Online caught up with Mr Alphonso on Monday July 22, 2013 and related that he was recovering well from his injuries.
Not keen to go into much detail about the incident, Mr Alphonso said it "happened at a flash," and that he was just happy to be alive today.
He also confirmed that the equipment he was operating came into contact with an overhead cable, which resulted in him receiving burns to the palm of his left hand and toes on his left foot.
"It went in from my hand and come out through my toe," he said.
Grateful for ‘Good Samaritan’
Mr Alphonso said he is forever grateful to a man whose name he only knows as "Chucky" who was the first to rush to his assistance. "Chucky boy, I must say thanks...he is the man that saved me," Alphonso told this news site.
Meanwhile, Mr Alphonso wants to let everyone know that he is out of hospital and doing fine as his injuries were minor and not life threatening. "The nurses and doctors at Peebles Hospital, I must say thanks to them, all my family, relatives and friends who have been praying and calling me, I want them all to know that Frankie is ok and thanks very much for everything."
The heavy duty equipment operator admitted that the experience was “a bit traumatic” but that he has been recovering well.

Man suffers electric shocks while operating heavy duty equipment
- Machinery came into contact with live wires; operator hospitalised
A heavy duty equipment operator has been hospitalised after suffering electric shocks when the machinery he was operating reportedly came into contact with lives wires around noon today, July 20, 2013.
The man has been identified as Frankie Alphonso of Kingston, Tortola.
According to reports, Mr Alphonso was operating a heavy duty equipment in the Kingston area in the vicinity of Cedar International school when the incident occurred.
He was reportedly taken to Peebles Hospital where he is being kept for observation. It is not clear if Mr Alphonso suffered any burns as a result of the electric shocks.
Mr Frankie Alphonso is the brother of Mr Desmond Alphonso aka DA who now resides in Guyana following deportation in June of 2011.
