UPDATE: Fiona is now a hurricane
The NHC also said torrential rains and mudslides are expected across Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
It said Hurricane Fiona is located 17.3 North 66.5 West, about 50 miles (80k) of Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Maximum sustained winds are 80 mph or 130 km/h.
Fiona is moving West Northwest or 285 degrees at 8 mph...13 km/h.
The minimum central pressure is 987 mb.

VI now experiencing tropical storm conditions- DDM
Based on the latest forecast track information, tropical storm Fiona is now passing southwest of the [British] Virgin Islands at a distance of about 129 miles from Road Town, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) stated about an hour ago, September 18, 2022.
It said the Virgin Islands is now experiencing some tropical storm conditions.
“These windy conditions could produce flying debris from small objects and damage to weak infrastructure. So please be watchful and alert,” DDM stated.
According to DDM, its weather station in Road Town recorded winds as high as 27.43 mph and gusts 42.65 mph.
It also said rainfall accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are possible over the next 24 hours and this could produce flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas as well as mudslides.
“Our weather station has also recorded about 0.11 inches of rain within the last 24hrs,” DDM stated.
Persons are asked to stay off the roads in these conditions because there could be landslides, rock falls, coastal tides and waves affecting the coastal road areas.
Fiona winds increase to near 70 mph
At 8:00 am, the centre of Tropical Storm Fiona was located near latitude 17.2 North, longitude 66.1 West approximately 129 miles South West from Road Town.
Fiona is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h).
A northwestward motion is expected to begin later today and continue through Monday, followed by a turn toward the north-northwest on Tuesday.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and Fiona is expected to become a hurricane before reaching the southern or southwestern coast of Puerto Rico later today.
Additional strengthening is expected on Monday and Tuesday while Fiona moves near the Dominican Republic and over the southwestern Atlantic. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the center.
The minimum central pressure estimated from NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft observations is 991 mb (29.26 inches).

Yes storms and hurricanes were formed before but with the technological advancements we have these days. They can enhance storms at will. The HAARP machine was created to divert storms away from countries until they began using them in wars instead. After using it wars the governments with said technology agreed that it’s unfair to be used in wars. HAAARP can be useful or extremely dangerous people of power have their own agendas wether it’s to cause a drought for farmers etc etc. After Irma people said that wasn’t a normal storm the funny thing about Irma is the meaning of the word itself but hey that’s just a conspiracy. Everything that’s outside the realm of one’s reality is a “conspiracy”
