POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI - The vehicle used by three masked men to rob the Delta Petroleum gas station in PockWood Pond was found abandoned in Sea Cows Bay, according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

Virgin Islands News Online had first reported of the robbery on Saturday night, November 16, 2013.

Police, in a press release, said they are investigating a report of an armed robbery that occurred shortly before 10 P.M. on Saturday. Officers were called to the Delta Gas Station in Pockwood Pond after the staff there were allegedly threatened by three masked men who were carrying what appeared to be firearms.

The RVIPF said the pump attendant was forced by the robbers to open the door to the cashier’s office and once inside, they stole a sum of cash and left the gas station in an Outlander jeep which was later found abandoned in Sea Cows Bay.

"One of the offenders is described as about six feet tall slim built with a local accent; the second is about five feet, two inches tall, slim built with local accent and the third 3rd culprit was about five feet, seven inches tall, also slim built with a local accent. All the males wore dark clothing, gloves and were masked. There are no reports of injuries and no shots were fired. The vehicle has been seized for forensic examination and further leads are being followed up," the RVIPF reported.

Police are appealing for witnesses and request that persons with any information about this incident, especially anybody who may have seen the Outlander Jeep in the area, is asked to contact the RVIPF on the non-emergency number 311, the Intelligence Unit on 468 9339, or – in complete and guaranteed anonymity – ‘Crimestoppers’ on 800 8477.

Investigations are continuing.

        Don't be too quick to pass remarks, because the culprits just may be people close to you. Bring the facts, and discard your opinions.

    We will hold Myron and the NDP responsible because they campaign to make 10yrs the minimum on gun crime and they fail the people again. Out go you;

      I would like to correct you and the others, we do not have a gun problem, because guns do not commit crimes, it is the people who are committing the crimes. As a matter of fact they can opt to use a knife, machete or an ax instead of a gun. It is just so unfortunate.

    There is a serious crime problem in the BVI. Something HAS to be done. The attitude of the public has been to blame it on the party in power. The people caught are given a "slap on the hand". This problem needs to be addressed with serious punishment to those caught. Do we want to end up like St Croix with NO tourist. Our economy is based on tourism. If the problem is not corrected, soon a tourist is going to be injured in a robbery by these hoodlums and the tourism bubble will burst...then there will be a big problem.

      I was thinking the same thing! Sure it wasn't the gas attendant's friends who ain say a word and she throwing off police bout local accent. Either way; whether local or not the assailants should be caught and punished.
