CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI- Now that next of kin has been notified, Virgin Islands News Online can confirm that the woman who died in an accident at Cane Garden Bay last night, August 28, 2022, has been identified as Joyce Orine George.

George, 57, of Romney Park, Tortola was employed as a cook at Quito’s Gazebo.

The establishment related the tragic news on it’s Facebook page last night.

"Good night, I am sorry to have to share the heartbreaking news that one of our Quito’s family, has passed away today. She was a wonderful and beautiful lady, she will be sadly missed by us all. Our heartbreaks for her family and from all our family, we send our condolences. We were all blessed to have shared time with her and for all she shared with us. She was a ray of sunshine every day. May she rest in everlasting peace."

George was reportedly a native of Dominica.

Woman dies in lone-vehicle accident @ Cane Garden Bay

Word just reaching our newsroom is that a woman has died after being involved in a lone-vehicle accident at Cane Garden Bay.

According to reports, the accident occurred just before 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2022.

It is alleged that the woman was proceeding down Cane Garden Bay hill when she lost control of her vehicle and slammed into a wall.

    This is not the first..second.. or third time that ppl has lost their life's at that exact spot. How many more life's must lost before the government and our representative do something about this part of the road? R.I.P. to the young lady entire family and friends. May each and everyone of u find peace and comfort during this tragic time that only God can gives.

      While I am sorry to hear someone lost their life, what exactly should and can the Government have done or do? The road was made wider to give more space for vehicles coming up and going the hill. There is a sign that says step hill at the top before you even begin to go down. What else can they do?

      What exactly do you expect government or anyone else to do? I honestly dont see anything wrong with the corner. Its pretty wide in fact. All incidences and deaths occurred at that exact spot are due to vehicle failure. Brakes and such. Drivers need to be mindful of how they drive down most of our steep hills. Cane garden bay, joes hill, belle vue etc. Most drivers dont even engage a lower gear to help ease pressure off the brakes, In fact, I've seen lots of ignorant drivers accelerate down certain hills. None of this is confirmed to be the case with this unfortunate death, just saying, lots of drivers on tortola need to be a bit more cautious going down these hills.

    An autopsy needs to be done to determine cause of death. With so many heart attacks and strokes going around. They certainly need to look into it. Deaths are up over 20% worldwide and it’s all because of the vaccines and breathing in your own carbon monoxide and all the stress from the draconian mandates.     Condolences to her family. CGB road is not an easy road to drive. I avoid it as much as possible and will never drive it at night You definitely need 4 wheel drive and constant maintenance on your vehicle.

    When going down any steep hill start descending in second gear like Slowande.If the brakes fails like Covid Vaccine Malone, down shift to first gear quick like kyron and the vehicle will snail its way down the hill like Binky on jouvert morning. giving you time to jam or drive it like OMG so that yone wouldn't have to put their hands on top their heads and bawl like Vibes.     Hope the police checks her brakes system. Sometimes a faulty line can burst . If the brakes was recently changed they may have overheated causing the car not to stop . The roads are not to be blamed theirs many reasons y this could have happened

    I have known the family for many many years. Orine is from Dominica but definitely "one ah we" as she has been here forever. I knew her as a longtime worker of Pussers and resident of the West End community since I was a child. My heart really felt this when I heard the news. I knew she returned to Dominica and did not even know she was back here, but she was such definitely a wonderful and hardworking lady. She also raised two respectful sons. I was truly heartbroken to hear of her death in such a tragic accident. May her soul rest in eternal peace. To the family and friends left to mourn, I leave with you the words of the Lord in Matthew 5:4: Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. My prayer is that God comforts you during this difficult time.

    Truly an amazing, hard working, kind hearted Soul Orine was..!! Growing up in West End I have known Orine since the 80's as she lived a few houses down from me. She was one of the up-front faces of Pussers Landing, Frenchman's Cay. While she may be born in Dominica yes, Orine was truly an intrugal part of West End/Frenchman's Cay Community. We accepted and loved her dearly!! She was One of Us !!! The West End/Frenchmans Cay Community has truly lost an Amazing Soul!! HER KINDNESS FRIENDLY SMILE, AND WILLIGNESS TO ALWAYS ASSIST OTHERS WAS HER TRADEMARK!! She would personally go upstairs in the kitchen to check on a customers order if she felt it was taking too long! She Made an amazing Painkiller also, along with Bella!! Rest IN ETERNAL PEACE MY DEAR FRIEND! TO KYLE AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY STAY STRONG ITS HARD I KNOW!!

    Prime was one of my favorite people at Pusser’s West End. Her friendliness, her professionalism, her sense of humor, her lovely voice… She was the best. We loved her and are mourning her death. My condolences to her family and those who also loved this remarkable woman
