UPDATE: Corrine Brewley’s passing comes as a shock to close friends

When contacted, Chairman of the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee Mr Marvin ‘MB’ Blyden said he was too emotional at the time and was not in a position to make an official statement of condolence.
“They told me that she collapsed so I rushed down there and when I got there is dead she was dead,” said a very emotional Mr Blyden.
According to him, there is so much that he could say about Ms Brewley. “I could talk about her in Festival, I could talk about her with the birthday parties, I could talk about her in so many things but I really can’t right now I have to get myself together and maybe I’ll be in a better position to make a statement by the end of the week,” he noted.
“This is very shocking, very shocking,” was the first response of Fifth District Representative Honourable Delores Christopher. Ms Corrine Brewley was a resident of the Fifth District.
According to Hon. Christopher, the closest she worked with Ms Brewley was recently as they were together with others actively planning activities for the 60th Anniversary of Emancipation Festival to be observed in 2014. “What I can tell you is that Corrine was a people’s person. She worked and associated very well with everyone, the young and the old. She had a special quality that kept her environment very lively.”
Hon. Christopher recalled a recent statement made jokingly by Ms Brewley when she said, “I think I am 16 years old but my body tells me differently.” The District Representative also said that while the territory has lost a true daughter of the soil she is convinced that Corrine spent her time well.
“I am sure that she would have enjoyed life to its fullest, she was always happy, she could get everyone to laugh and she also contributed greatly to the community, not only to the Fifth District but the Territory as a whole,” assured Hon. Christopher who added that she is quite sure Ms Brewley will be missed by persons in the USA and the wider world.
“She has touched lives beyond these shores, in the USA, the USVI and even further and I am sure that all those persons are saddened by the news of her passing,” stated Hon. Christopher.
Meanwhile, another cultural icon, Mrs Eileene L. Parsons OBE was also contacted but declined to make any comment at this time.
Ms Brewley’s death was confirmed by Sergeant Carl Mason of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
“Officers attended Peebles Hospital in response to a report of a sudden death involving a female from Botanic Station,” Mr Mason told Virgin Islands News Online.
He also said the RVIPF was not treating the matter as anything suspicious, however, inquiries continue.

People of this Territory, it is time to make a change in life and seek the Almighty. Do not only be a hearer of the word...apply the word of God to your life...change your conduct if it is ungodly. Yes, we are all born sinners, but we do not need to practice sin, especially to deliberately engross in sin and wickedness. Love...love, yes love your neighbor as yourself. Hate what God hates and love what he loves.
I Pray that lord send comfort to your daughter and the rest of family during this time.
