UPDATE: Chef Imran wins cookout in the park!

After all the excitement, cheering, tasting, interviewing, chopping, stirring, the judges-Dj Push Pop, Neil Cline and Janis Braithwaite-Edwards declared that Chef Imran Ashton had prepared the best full course meal from the mystery basket provided.
Ashton of Plum Rose Restaurant located at Prospect Reef was also adjudged to have prepared the best appetizer course.
Celebrity Chef Fed Federer and his wingman and Junior Chef Champion Ariq Flax-Clarke cooked up the best main course. The other participating chef was Brian Wisbaur of Myetts. Chef Brian was also complimented for his preparation of conch.
Persons wasted no time in sampling the meals the chefs had prepared and also many commented that the competition was a fun one and should be continued.
The excitement and competition as part of BVI Restaurant Week 2013 actually continue in Virgin Gorda today from 11 A.M. and conclude at 4 P.M. in the Virgin Gorda Yacht Marina.

Let’s eat! ‘Tasty’ BVI Restaurant Week 2013 opens
- Residents turn out in numbers for free sampling & witness cookout with Chef Fed!
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park is currently a hive of activity as BVI Restaurant Week officially kicked off today, November 22, 2013 and persons have flocked the venue to get in on the free samplings being offered by some of the participating restaurants as well as witness the much talked about cookout involving international chef Fed Federer.
Among the participating restaurants offering free samples of their delicacies are Myetts, Watering Hole, Bananakeet Café, Village Cay, Scrub Island Resort and Nail Bay Resort.
“We have some great restaurants on board, we have some awesome foods and if you are not in the park today you are completely missing out,” said Public Relations Specialist at the BVI Tourist Board, Ms Meslyn Allan.
She noted the presence of sponsors Caribbean Cellers, Road Town Wholesale and Watering Hole and said she was impressed with the response of the public to the activity.
“This is basically where you can have lunch…We have an excellent turnout and we are expecting lots more people as the day goes on. It’s a great start and we encourage everyone to go out and dine this Restaurant Week from November 22 to December 1. There will be tons to eat at great discounted prices,” Ms Allan told Virgin Islands News Online.
It was also noted that the menus for the participating restaurants for BVI Restaurant Week 2013 can be found the BVITB website. Ms Allan said the same activity in the Noel Lloyd Park will be mirrored in Virgin Gorda tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the much hyped up cookout competition is underway and Celebrity Chef Fed Federer and his wingman and Junior Chef Champion Ariq Flax-Clarke are coming up against Chef Brian Wisbaur of Myetts and Chef Imran Ashton of Plum Rose Restaurant located at Prospect Reef.
A number of persons are gathered around the various tents to observe the competition.
The activity for today at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park runs until 4 P.M.
The same excitement is expected in Virgin Gorda tomorrow as Chef Fed comes up against two other chefs. The activity is scheduled to start from 11 A.M. and conclude at 4 P.M. in the Virgin Gorda Yacht Marina.
BVI Restaurant Week 2013 is a culinary event that was created by the BVI Tourist Board to highlight the local restaurants throughout the Territory. This event serves as an added asset to the VI’s culinary tourism product, by providing a platform to showcase the islands’ local and international cuisine as well as creating an additional attraction for foodies and food lovers worldwide to travel to the VI.
