KINGSTON, Jamaica- Hurricane Beryl was roaring toward Jamaica on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, with islanders scrambling to make preparations after the powerful Category 4 storm earlier killed at least six people and caused significant damage in the southeast Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) clocked the storm’s maximum winds at 145 mph late Wednesday morning.

Beryl is moving closer to the southern coastline of Jamaica.

Tropical storm conditions are already spreading across the island, with hurricane conditions expected over the next several hours.

Beryl will bring devastating winds and storm surges to portions of the island.

Jamaica braces

In Kingston, people boarded up windows, fishermen pulled their boats out of the water before sitting around a table to play dominoes beside a bay, and workers dismantled roadside advertising boards to protect them from the expected lashing winds to come.

A hurricane warning was in effect for Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

Beryl was forecast to weaken slightly over the next day or two, but still be at or near major-hurricane strength when it passes near or over Jamaica on Wednesday, near the Cayman Islands on Thursday and into Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula on Friday, according to the US National Hurricane Centre.

6 reported dead

Three people were reported killed in Grenada and Carriacou and another in St Vincent and the Grenadines, officials said. Two other deaths were reported in northern Venezuela, where five people are missing, officials said. About 25,000 people in that area also were affected by heavy rainfall from Beryl.

One fatality in Grenada occurred after a tree fell on a house, Kerryne James, the environment minister, told The Associated Press. She said Carriacou and Petit Martinique sustained the greatest damage, with scores of homes and businesses flattened in Carriacou.

At least 4 dead after Hurricane Beryl rips through Grenada & St Vincent

Hurricane Beryl is barreling toward Jamaica as a category 5 storm after charting a deadly path through Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines, flattening buildings, cutting off power and water, and killing at least four people.

Three deaths have been reported in Grenada following the passage of Hurricane Beryl as a Category 4 storm on Monday, July 1, 2024.

In a national address on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Dickon A.T. Mitchell reported two deaths on the island of Carriacou, which was directly impacted by Beryl yesterday as a strong category four storm.

According to reports, one man was killed in Grenada when a tree fell on his home.

The possibility that there may be more fatalities remains are grim reality,” Prime Minister Mitchell stated.

Mitchell said Carriacou and Petit Martinique are completely devastated and officials are currently unable to use heavy equipment since fuel is in short supply due to the destruction of gas stations.

The scale of devastation has been compared to Hurricane Ivan, which ravaged Grenada in 2004.

One death was recorded in St Vincent and the Grenadines, where Prime Minister Ralph E. Gonsalves said that around 90 percent of homes had been damaged or destroyed on the nation’s Union Island.

Hurricane Beryl is expected to bring extreme weather conditions to Jamaica on Wednesday, which has a Hurricane Warning in effect, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) as of Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024.

Life is more important than any destruction caused to personal property and infrastructure. I for one say thank God my family is safe! condolences to the families who lost loved ones, as they are the ones who suffered the most loss. Material things can be repaired or replaced.

People communicate with GOD all the time so your whole premise is wrong. That's just FYI.

@herbs dont claim herbs when you are powered by hemp. If you were actually meditating you wouldnt have to ask where proof of god is. It is all around you.

The ancients called it the hidden divinity, the bible said to mind the spirit not appearances. Its obvious yet not obvious. The mere fact that you can type what is in your mind with your fingers, and that something can come from nothing (the big bang), points to a higher order & power.

Can an ant understand the world as we do? what says we have the ability to fully comprehend a higher power as we are?

You need some AAA+ Obama Runtz or Obama Kush, Snoop Dog rapper weed, or a stronger plant-teacher altogether because what you have obviously isnt strong enough to crack your humdrum shell to the amazing world you were born into.

I dont blame you because when Jesus rose from the dead one of his disciples needed proof. Only he who doubted jesus rose from the dead, was able to touch the wound and experience for himself the proof he needed even as a disciple. God exisit in many forms and there is proof to be found for people like you.

You ask for proof but guess what the colonialist (satanist) world order made the much proof illegal. We slurp propaganda instead, and struggle to get our head out of the sand. Politics reflects this.

By second hand accounts easily found online, with three pulls of DMT & ten minutes you could have all the proof you need that something more exist beyond this physical reality.

Furthermore you can go to Australia tell a doctor you need proof of something more to get rid of your existential depression and you can be perscribed psilocybin as it is now legal in Australia.

Wow, sad story. What’s even more sad is that it’s been 20 years since the last major hurricane and those islands still unprepared. It’s a sad fact that if this storm had hit the BVI now we’d been totally unprepared. Ghuts, gutters and drains all still full of trash. Trees and bush still not cut and literally laying on the power lines. My bet is no backup plan for water or power loss. What’s worse is we still not even recovered from 2017! If we can’t even patch a pothole how can we be ready for our next Cat 5? Jokers, just a bunch of jokers round here.
