UPDATE: Attempted Murder accused duo not yet sentenced
But that was not the case as they would continue to make Her Majesty’s Prison, Balsum Ghut, their abode where they have been remanded since as their sentencing hearing has been put off to December 11, 2014, a process that does not prejudice them in any way.
It was a matter of certain document not reaching one of the men’s attorney Mr Stephen R. Daniels in time from the Crown and had which prevented him from practicing law as he is accustomed to doing.
Mr Daniels told the court that because the document did not reach him in a timely manner he was unable to visit his client at Balsum Ghut prior to appearing on November 21, 2014.
He said that it is a practice of his to go through with his clients what he would have prepared to deliver to the court during sentencing hearing.
The other attorney for the defence in the case was Mr Patrick Thompson who had indicated that he did receive the specific document via email late the following day and had gone through the pains of giving up his night’s rest to prepare his script for the sentencing hearing and was well prepared to go forward.
But when told by High Court Judge Ms Nichole Byer that she would preferred to have both attorneys deliver on the same day he accepted by saying he regretted wasting an opportunity at a good night’s sleep.
