UPDATE: ‘All clear’ issued @ Road Town Banco Popular
The ‘All Clear’ instructions were issued by the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Department just before 11:00 AM this morning to the relief of both employees and customers of Banco Popular one of several commercial banks in the Territory.
Chief Fire Officer Zebalon A. McLean told this news site that the information is still sketchy as the investigation is ongoing.
However he said that the electrical and air conditioning personnel concerned with the building have invited the VI Fire and Rescue Service to share with them their findings with a view to determining what started the fire emergency.

Smell of smoke caused Banco Popular to be evacuated
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - (Post Time 10:30AM) - The smell of smoke at Banco Popular caused employees, customers and those in the drive through line to evacuate moments ago today November 30, 2015.
Currently the BVI Fire and Rescue Services, Police and other emergency personnel are on site at its Road Town Branch, as many persons are standing outside.
According to reports reaching our news room, the smoke was smelled sometime after 8:00 am this morning.
The situation came at a busy time when government workers are collecting their salaries and others are doing their monthly loan payments and other bank transactions.
