VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Virgin Gorda United will be facing Avengers FC in the final of the Women’s Knockout Cup at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

VG United eliminated Wolues on penalties

Both the Virgin Gorda based teams reached the final after defeating their opponents last weekend, VG dealing with Wolues FC after a penalty shootout.

The game had ended all square at 2-2 after TeZahria Noble netted the second of her brace in the 58th minute of normal time to level the scores. Earlier Eva Carey had put Wolues ahead in the 3rd minute before Noble scored in the 14th to make it 1-1.

An own goal put Wolues back in front in the 44th minute before Noble sent the game to penalties. She also took one of the successful spot kicks as VG United ran out 3-1 winners in the shootout.

Avengers edged Rebels

In the other semifinal, Lavern Fahie scored the winner as Avengers beat Rebels F.C. 2-1. Her winner came in the 31st minute after Emaline Lockhart had equalised for Rebels in the fifth minute, following Chelsie Dyer’s 3rd minute opener for Avengers.

“Avengers are really proud of the victory,” commented Lil Makeda Fahie. “Especially as we started the game with only seven players and had two different players going into goal, neither of whom were trained to be a keeper, and one was still in her first year of playing the game. We still have a lot of work to do but are definitely looking forward to the final.”

The final will be played in front of what is expected to be a large partisan Virgin Gorda crowd and kicks off at 7:00 PM.
