FAT HOGS BAY, Tortola, VI- Residents of Fat Hogs Bay and Long Swamp on the eastern end of Tortola were left without power this morning, April 1, 2025, after a pickup truck struck a utility pole in the Fat Hogs Bay area.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the lone-vehicle accident.

"There is an outage continuing for a few more hours from Fat Hogs Bay to Long Swamp on Tortola.

"Unfortunately a member of the public damaged our high voltage line infrastructure in this area extensively enough that it could not be repaired earlier. This will be addressed today. We will do our best to get this rectified as soon as possible," BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) notified affected customers via its WhatsApp channel just before 7:00 AM.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are unclear.

Ok this truck only knocked off the power, bvi electricity needs to stop blaming people and do their work. Another vehicle months now hit that pole and broke it from the bottom ( bvi electricity put up a new pole right next to it look at the picture) months now the broken pole was left standing in place because all the lines attached to it were still on it keeping it standing in mid air, the new pole there months now waiting on them to transfer the lines from the old broken one to the new one. So unno don't blame this truck it's bvi electricity fault the pole was already broken thus the new pole.

So you really want us to believe that the truck has nothing to do with the outage? Have a happy April fools day!

The truck was stolen from in Town, cameras shows the individual taken the vehicle. I heard the driver was also drunk, and break into a home.
