Tropical Storm Warning still in effect for VI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A Tropical Storm Warning is still in effect for the Virgin Islands as Ernesto has now become a Category 1 Hurricane.

A recent update from the BVI Department of Disaster Management (DDM) said the VI will likely experience significant flooding as heavy rains persist. 

The update from the DDM said the center of Hurricane Ernesto, was located near latitude 20.5 North, longitude 67.6 West and continues to move towards the northwest near 16 mph or 26 km/h. 

Hurricane Ernesto is expected to turn north-northwest and north later today and tonight. 

Flash Flood Warning still in effect 

A Flash Flood Warning is still in effect for flood prone and low lying areas of the VI until 4 p.m today, Wednesday, August 14, 2024. 

The DDM advised people in low lying or flood prone areas to move to higher ground immediately. Those living along streams, creeks, low lying and flood prone areas have also been asked to take immediate precautions to protect life and property.

    That was a category 1 that pass through Tortola up in the east was blowing strong from 8 steady until about 3 it started easing down so something wrong this wasn't no storm a hurricane 1

      How about you stop relying on DDM and do your OWN research. If you can't understand, then you salt. Know your stuff.
