Travis Walters, Monique & GenY Factor winners among host of artistes for 1st VI Icon Awards

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The 1st Virgin Islands Icon Awards is set for the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex tomorrow, Monday, July 1, 2024.

The red-carpet event is designed to celebrate Virgin Islanders’ and residents’ outstanding achievements across 26 disciplines.

“Raised on a simple proverb, to “give people their flowers while they are alive”, the Virgin Islands Icon Awards is a yearlong platform of recognition for Virgin Islanders, residents, and brands that begins at a red-carpet style award show, further celebrated at after parties to hail the accomplishments and highlight all yearlong until we do it all again,” a post on the event’s Facebook page stated.

Travis A. Walters & Monea to share a stage

The Virgin Islands Icon Awards will also see performances by some of the top talents in the territory, including Travis M. Walters and Marisa Malone, who will reunite on stage after more than a decade.

Walters rose to popularity during the Follow The Movement’s Top 7 @7 Awards between 2010 and 2012 and famously landed a contract with R.A.Y.D.A.R - an international entertainment management company.

GenY Factor Winners

Additionally, the winners of GenY Factor will perform for the first time together at the Virgin Islands Icon Awards.

Durnel Sanderson, Shauna-Kay Miller, Dwight A. Hutchinson Jr, Toriah Pryce, and Yohance T. Smith will sing the Territorial Song.

More artistes set to perform include Dante 'Pascal' Wattley, Raul A. Sprauve aka 'Jougo', Eustace C. Freeman aka 'Boss', Amanda Georges and Che Pemberton.

Other artistes

Further adding to the musical flair at the Virgin Islands Icon Awards will be violinist Kyle Moses and guitarist Akim Johnson.

Cultural icon Mr Elmore Stoutt will also be joined on stage by The BVI Heritage Dancers, Kamau Georges and Zion Sounds Band for a unique Virgin Islands moment of storytelling and singing.

Closing the performances will be Monique Chapdelaine Huggins, who will be backed by the Virgin Islands Iconic Choir.

Meanwhile, the nominees for the various categories have been revealed and can be seen on the Virgin Islands Icon Awards Facebook page.

The highly anticipated event tomorrow is set to start at 4:00 PM.
