ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- What could be considered a relief to motorists, the traffic lights at the junction of Station Road and James Walter Francis Drive in Road Town, Tortola is back up and running after being destroyed by Hurricane Irma on September 6, 2017.

That area was seen by many motorists as greatly in need of the traffic lights since persons seeking to turn into Station Drive from the James Walter Francis Drive or on to the dual carriageway from Station Road stood a great risk of being hit by speeding drivers.

The danger was amplified at nights.

The traffic lights began working today, October 12, 2017 according to information reaching this news site.

It is not clear when the other traffic lights in Road Town will be working again.

be thankful as long as there is life there is hope and putting our trust and faith in God he will surely see us thru. Many have lost their lives during these storms and can and will never make a decision and we are alive and must give thanks. So let's move forward with whatever we can do poco a poco we will get there. The place already start to show signs of improvement and remember Rome was not built in one day. Let's have patience and work together not against each other and God will see us thru.

Cosign! Many individuals complain about the smallest and most irrelevant thing possible. At least the BVI are making progress. Be thankful for life. Be grateful that you can see another beautiful day. Most times the people who make the loudest noise are the individuals who are not assisting. I applaud the individuals who are working tirelessly to make the Virgin Islands great again. Your blessings will come in abundance. I claim it in the name of Jesus.

I think the frustration is that households want electricity. Schools territory wide starts in 2-3 weeks and I think the priorities of traffic lights versus lights in your house is why some people are not excited about the traffic lights being restored. Not everyone can afford a generator and the gas bill that ensues with having one. I agree negativity will never prosper but those people have a right to voicemail their opinions too whether we agree with it or not. Furthermore, some roads are horrible stiil, like Horsepath, when school begins it will be horrible getting on and off that hill if those sink holes are not fixed.

@ people: yes, I said big deal because thousands of our people are homeless and some of us tripping over traffic lights(big fu@!n$ deal)...nice to have the traffic lights back because they could reduce traffic accidents but some of us are so simple minded; again I remind some of us your own people need shelter: I always give God the glory: I know from wence this territory came from the late 50s...,,,so stop chat bull about progress/I lived through what you calling progres-Your tax money unaccounted for, why you don't talk that!!!!!! The power was restored in that area SO the lights will come back on in that area: keep the faith

Unfortunately, my home was also gone. Unlike others I may be the few to get electricity anytime soon because I live in the boondocks but with God alive things will be done. I'm not living in a bubble I am aware and it's visible that many are struggling but the government can not do everything. News Flash!! The magic wand hasn't arrived as yet. Many need to get up off their lazy butts and try to help themselves. I'm not speaking about the sick and elderly. I'm speaking about the strong and abled individuals. Look around certain villages you will see that debris and filt are still on people door steps. A task that is so simple they refused to do. I guess they are waiting for government to clean their yards as well. Too many times excuses are being made. The tax money not accounted for will not give me more white hairs than I already have. What will I do cry over spoiled milk? No! You can complain from now till pigs fly, once you do not have a solution the problem will remain the same. Since you know yourself is this the first time that you are seeing issues and concerns of monies? Find the solution! So yes I will scream from the mountain top that the BVI is progressing. A little light goes a far way. I understand that for many it will be frustrating but everything takes time. The funny thing is it's just the nasty old dry head miserable heifers thats making the most noise. Before you go sit in the corner with your bible to give God thanks that he spared your life you here on VINO complaining. You don't want God show you where is not progressing. This is a wake up call for many. We all are misplaced and uncomfortable but let this be a testimony for us that we came out stronger than before.

Yesterday I was wondering why the person in front of me was not moving. Then I saw two scooter riders stop (which was amazing in itself). Then I looked up and was like, oh....the lights are back on.....May seem irrelevant but it is indeed are sign that we are trying to get back to normal.
