Music Fests and Festival rather be placed under Tourist Board instead of properly funding and recruiting trained lifeguards to safeguard lives at beaches.
It’ll also be difficult because lifeguard wages are low and unlikely to attract young people from here to do the job.
Very sad news.
Rest In Peace. ????
There should be.
I’m sorry this happened. RIP.
The next generation needs to know how to judge the sea conditions, where is safe and where is not on any day, know what rip currents are, what they do and how to deal with them, etc. Needs to know basic LIFE SAVING techniques for themselves or other people they might encounter like tourists.
This negligent denial of us being on a small island is literally losing us good human lives.
Yes, this victim was a visitor but who knows if there was local people there who had basic competence, the gentleman could have been saved.
It is EMBARRASING that all you actually WANT TO stay in this old time mind set of ignorance and danger just because granny taught you things because she also did not know.
STEP UP, BVI! Teach every youth swimming competence and stop continuing this total ignorance!
