Tortola man pleads guilty for smuggling DR man into USVI
The St Thomas New Source reports that according to police, since September 7, 2019, a vessel was intercepted approaching Coral Bay, St. John, with no navigational lights.
Samuel Davies who was captain of the vessel along with a Dominican Republic man were unable to produce legal documentation that allowed their presence in the United States.
The police department reported that Davies told agents he met a man in Tortola known as “San Diego” who asked to take the Dominican man to Jost Van Dyke in the Virgin Islands, but they accidentally ended up in Coral Bay.
According to a press release, the Dominican man was later deported back to the Dominican Republic, and Davies is awaiting a scheduled hearing to be sentenced by a federal judge in the USVI.
