This Week We Feature Young Professional Shaday N. L. Peters
Our young professional this week is Ms Shaday N. L. Peters, 28, of Belle Vue, Tortola. Ms Peters is a Switchboard Operator at the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA).
Her responsibilities include, answering all calls both internally and externally and transferring them throughout the various departments of the hospital. In addition, she also monitors the system that covers the critical areas of the hospital and clinics.
According to Ms Peters, “I enjoy assisting customers over the telephone when extra services are needed; knowing that at the end of the phone call the customer is satisfied.”
Our young professional Ms Peters, who holds an Associate’s degree in Hospitality and Culinary Arts, disclosed that her inspiration for pursuing her current job was the fact that in her opinion the business community “lacks professionalism and quality of service”.
“I wanted to be able to deliver that same quality of professional service to the customers over the telephone as if it was done in person,” said our young professional.
Prior to working at the BVI Health Services Authority, Shaday worked at A Cut of Above Hair and Beauty Salon as a hairdresser, makeup artist and a nail technician.
Passion for beauty
Our young professional’s dream goes beyond being a Switchboard Operator. She is on the path to making her dreams a reality, which includes ultimately becoming an Entrepreneurship in which she see herself revolutionising the beauty industry.
Aside from being a Switchboard Operator, Ms Peters takes much joy in doing makeup and hair services for pageants, fashion shows, weddings, private clients and other special event.
Ms Peters is a YouTuber that uses videos to teach women about makeup, fashion and hair.
Interest/Inspiration
In her spare time, Ms Peters takes pleasure in dancing, singing, sewing, decorating, baking and reading books but most of all she enjoys doing hair and makeup.
Our young professional is inspired by television personalities Oprah Winfrey and Steve Harvey.
Ms Peters admitted that success is what helps to keep her focused because it’s an on-going process:
“When I keep my mind on success, it helps me to elevate myself each and every day because it has no limits. With me focusing on success, I will be able to achieve my goals, my dreams and accelerate my visions. That is what keeps me moving forward.”
Advice to youth
Asked what would be her advice to the youth of today, she said, “Never listen to the “No’s and Don’ts” in life. Always believe in yourself because there is greatness on the inside of all of us. Do not settle for any less than what you’re worth because only you can understand your vision. Make your vision your dream. Turn your dream into your goal and make it a reality. Dream big but keep it simple.”
