“The most powerful thing you can create is a feeling!” said Young Professional Camroy D. Peters who describes himself as a Video Producer, Filmmaker, and Entrepreneur and the founder of a company called Frostmedia Digital.

Frostmedia Digital is a Caribbean-focused entertainment, production, and design company specializing in digital, broadcast, and documentary content with works spanning Europe, the US, and the Caribbean.

Early beginnings

31-year-old Camroy is a native of Tortola, in the Virgin Islands having attended the Althea Scattliffe Primary School, then BVI High/Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) where he graduated in 2009 and still calls Tortola his home.

He then went on to study filmmaking in the UK a graduated with a BSc in Film Production from Staffordshire University.

Me Peters told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) that during his BSc program, his studies were based in West Midlands, UK with courses in Script Writing, Film Production, Documentary Production, Film History, Lighting, Studio Production, the usual gamut surrounding filmmaking.

Despite a love for the arts, he says he still enjoys playing musical instruments such as the piano and guitar, and enjoys swimming, hiking, going to concerts, art galleries, and history museums when possible.

Avid Filmmaker

Currently, Mr Peters is employed at Frostmedia Digital where he produces content for a living, “I work for myself through Frostmedia Digital. I function as a Video Producer and Filmmaker for the most part. It focuses on narrative-led film and documentary productions. Additional services include commercials, as well as graphic design services,” he told our news center.

Peters said the diversity of projects, active learning, and providing visual solutions for clients is something he enjoys the most. When asked about challenges in the field, Camroy responded with an unequivocal “What challenge?”

Our Young Professional added he initially entered the field of filmmaking over a desire to tell more Caribbean stories and see more Caribbean people on-screen at a quality comparable to international markets.

That passion has taken him through filmmaking roles like a Runner, Director, and even a Producer across a number of projects and campaigns.

Mr Peters said if he would have chosen another career, however, it would be in Aeronautical engineer, a Pilot or even an Architect. He detailed however, that would still pursue being a Pilot in a private capacity.

Life lessons

Meanwhile, in a conversation about life lessons, Mr Peters said one thing he has learned over the years is about trusting in people, “People will always let you down, but you can’t hold on to that. Eventually, there will be those who meet you along the journey and the teamwork and vision will align. Your next achievement is waiting on you,” he said.

With a busy schedule and big dreams, Camroy says knowing the path he wants and knowing that he can achieve his goals one action at a time, keeps him focused.

He said ultimately, he wants to see his work Influence and inspire the region and wider diaspora as well as the need for him to continue making noteworthy visual projects.

As a serial entrepreneur, he said he also operates a clothing brand called based at caribbeanculture.net which is about celebrating cultural essence through fashion, highlighting the power of representing Caribbean heritage.

Parting advice

In advice to youths looking to pursue and achieve their dreams, Mr Peters encourages them to be opened to constant learning and not be disheartened by failure, “Fail faster forward,” he added.

“The most powerful thing you can create is a feeling,’ he added while encouraging youths to stay focused through the journey of life and always remember to enjoy the present moment.

Well done and keep it up! Don’t feel bad if no one from
The BVI hit play on your video. It’s not about a fight, drugs or porn. Once it’s something positive it will get ignored. People around here like the negative and dramatic videos that makes no sense. Nevertheless don’t quit and keep
Producing when you get Hollywood they will clim you and post you up all over.
