This is the kind of firepower on the streets of the USVI
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — The [US] Virgin Islands Police Department says it’s working to get guns off the streets. Have a look of at least one of the weapons officers recovered in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands between Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26, 2016 (in photo).
On Friday — responding to shots fired in the vicinity of Nadir at about 10:02 a.m. — police recovered a sawed-off shotgun, a glock handgun with several extended magazines, ammunition and drugs.
The following day officers responded to shots fired in the Oswald Harris Court area and observed an individual attempting to exit the location, who dropped a folding chair bag and left.
The officers inspected the bag and recovered an AK-47 with 2 magazines. Police, however, were unable to locate the suspect after they recovered the weapon and ammunition, according to the release.
