'The Truth must be told in the upcoming Campaign' - Hon J. Alvin Christopher
He was part of a panel of persons who were live on air last night January 26, 2015 on PEP Radio heard on ZBVI 780 AM from 8:00 PM.
Responding to a caller to the show, the PEP Chairman said that his party does not intend to focus on a negative campaign, but will be tapping into the public for solutions.
The caller was making a reference to strong statements made by First District Representative Hon Andrew A. Fahie during a public meeting in Capoon’s Bay on Saturday January 24, 2015.
“Good evening members of PEP. On Saturday we heard the representative for the First District come out with a lot of fire…where a lot of negativity was thrown out and people seem to have responded to it…does your party intend to run the same type of campaign or will you be bringing solutions to the people?” the caller asked, noting that people don’t seem to respond to well to clean campaigns.
“Do you run a clean campaign at the risk of losing the elections or do you run a dirty campaign?” he further asked.
In responding to the question, Honourable Christopher said the party not only intends to run a clean campaign offering solutions but also seeking ideas from the people. “We intend to have open dialogue with the people of the Territory to assist us in finding the solutions to the problems that are plaguing our islands,” said Hon Christopher.
“You refer to the negative campaigns but sometimes you have to say what happened so that people can know and understand what is actually taking place,” Hon Christopher said.
“We have taken a position that we will only discuss matters and problems of this Territory and we would also offer solutions and when we don’t have the answer we will go to you the people and seek answers and directions so that we can move forward,” he said.
