SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) is inviting tenders from eligible and qualified contractors for the removal and disposal of derelict vessels from the Sea Cows Bay Harbour.

The Sea Cows Bay Harbour remains littered with derelict and abandoned vessels, nearly eight years after the destructive hurricanes of 2017, Irma and Maria, struck the Virgin Islands.

However, it was published in the Official Gazette on May 1, 2025, that owners of vessels partially sunk in the Sea Cows Bay area and deemed a hazard were to remove the vessels within two months or they would be disposed of in accordance with section 33B of the Disaster Management Act.

According to the RDA, the procurement method will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) process.

What happened to the offer from the Bahamians to come remove and salvage them for free or next to nothing so they can use the wrecks to make artificial reefs?

The derelict vessels are probably the only thing stopping Fraser pushing more dirt into the sea. Some of these vessels been there way before Irma.

Why are projects being left in an unfinished and hazardous state while others are moving along at a snail's pace causing the public added financial stress and worries. Why is it taking forever to complete road works in Sea Cow's Bay. Fraser need to have this work completed before trying to impress anyone with derelict vessel disposal bidding. You are spreading yourself too thin and nothing is being completed causing one royal mess. This is so shameful and disgusting.

This tender was issued and awarded in 2019. The VIP Government stopped this and many other projects when they got elected. Six years later here we are again with this and they acting like saviors. BVI people this VIP Government slowed the advancement of this country for their own greed. Please never reelect them!
