CAPPOONS BAY, Tortola, VI- Police investigating an alleged theft of a bicycle has charged a teenager from Cappoon's Bay, Tortola, for theft and giving false information.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, a resident of the said community on September 19, 2020, proceeded to leave for work using a bicycle he had for over three years when he discovered it was missing.

Subsequently, the man visited the home of a friend when he noticed the wheels of his bicycle in the back yard of the friend’s residence.

After investigating, it was learnt that an 18 year old, who spent a night at the property the bicycle was taken from, was seen by several persons in the neighborhood riding a bicycle.

The matter was reported to police, who approached the accused; however, the teen provided a “false name” to investigators.

The teen’s mother subsequent provided his correct name; however, the accused denied stealing the bicycle, even though he admitted to spending the night at the property where the bicycle went missing.

The 18-year-old will have his day in court soon.

@ trust. Yes, really for a bicycle, because that was the complainants means of transport. He will probably get off with a warning, but he must understand that he has done wrong for stealing. Better he gets straightened out now than later for something more serious. I'm glad the mother did not cover for him and gave his correct name because if she didn't, you all would say that she was allowing her son to be a thief. Isn't this the problem with some parents who cover for their children?

18? Boy you’ll already slipping down the wrong path. Change your ways before it’s too late. At 18 he’s very much aware about the do and don’t. He should do a night in jail or community service hours.

Please, don't be too hard on him. close to 100% of young people throughout the have stolen from others and lied when caught. what is more worst is the adults are stealing and lying, in a failed attempt to cover their evil. Human efforts are insurfient to change our sin nature. A merciful judge deserves more honored than an umerciful. Yes, he deserve to be punished, but help also need help. Pray for his good, help him to overcome his weaknesses. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Amen.
