DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola – Teachers in the Virgin Islands (VI) will receive a $300 stipend to purchase classroom resources as part of the adjusted budget being formulated by the Fahie Administration.

The details of the new stipend were revealed by Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) at yesterday’s September 22, 2021, sitting of the House of Assembly held at Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom, Tortola.

“Just to remind persons these $300 stipends really has to do with the monies that teachers expend to be able to buy their resources to get their classrooms ready,” the Minister said.

He said the funds were requested by teachers to be able to purchase learning resources to get the classroom ready for the new school year.

Salary review to include teachers- Dr Wheatley

Meanwhile, Dr Wheatley said the upcoming salary review for the public service will also include teachers.

“We are going to review the salaries and make sure that persons within the entire public service are being paid in a way that's commensurate with their qualifications and their experience and also their impact,” he said.

@thst money- why you won’t take your unmotivated self and host a bake sale to support the classroom that you’re child is in? Government can’t do it alone we all should contribute.

What a thing? What thing? Are you asleep man. You need to wake up to the latest. I am awake now, tell me. Ok. I will tell you.
The VIP government is disintergrating from the top down. Say what? You deaf man? The UK sent the CoI here in a justified attempt to restore financial transparency, and many people are angry. Rather than dealing with the issues at hand, there are attacking those that was sent here to stop our suppressors from taking advantage of us financially. Aand otherwise.
They are even promising to review salary for government imployees. What is wrong with that?
What is wrong? The pot is trying to cook the coals, under it, rather than cook the food in it, and share justly to all of us. What a thing in B.V.I politics

We are STILL waiting for the stipend and we are almost halfway through the term. The teachers made noise about what was happening, and the government offered a 'stipend'. We are now almost half way through the term, and still can't see a cent. I should have known it was too good to be true. Maybe teachers should have asked for a wall or a fence!! The struggle continues....
