Sweet smell of second for Sugar Boys!
First to claim all three points over the weekend were One Love, who had a brace from super striker Collin Green to thank for the win. He scored at the end of each half in a tough battle with the Lucian Stars.
One Love’s Coach Marc Savage has masterminded their climb up the table and said that the team believes it can win the championship
“we are very confidant about it,” he stated. “ The players believe and I believe it. It is a mental game and once you think about the game you can win whenever and however,” he added
After being held goalless by the Haitian Stars in the first half the Wolues finally secured victory with two crucial goals inside ten second half minutes. James Shearman broke the deadlock in the 54th minute and as the Wolues began to dominate the game Matt Moss added a second eight minutes later to secure victory.
Not to be outdone though the Sugar Boys jumped into second place, ahead of the Wolues only by goal difference, with a two nil win over local rivals VG United. Atiba Creese gave the Sugar Boys a helping hand with an own goal just as it appeared the tie would reach the break in stalemate and within a minute of the restart the Suar Boys were two goals to the good when Shaun Liburd netted.
The second half stayed goalless to give the Boys the all important goal difference cushion and second place in the standings
The Women finally got a chance to play on Sunday too.
The BVIFA has plans for a women’s seven a side league and as part of the Opening Launch a team from the USVI will be here to play a couple of Exhibition matches on March 9th and 12th.
Kyra Ali scored the only goal for the Blue Team against the Green Team.
