Desron "Lava Man" Rodriguez, the 34-year-old hiker who rose to infamy for his repeated jaunts up the La Soufriere mountain, has been arrested.

Details are still sketchy, put police sources have confirmed that he was taken into custody at the Biabou Police Station around 4pm on Tuesday.

Despite repeated appeals issued by NEMO, Rodriguez continued to venture up the mountain, his most recent trek on April 18.

As has become the norm, he went live on his social media platform.

He came under heavy criticism from Professor Richard Robertson who described his actions as irresponsible and dotish.

“People talk about bravery and to me somebody is brave when you are aware of the risk that you put yourself to or because of your job... the need to contribute to society in some fundamental way... you still take the action to save your family or something like that. So you are aware of the risks, you know you could be killed or you know you could be hurt but you still do it.  That’s a brave person.  A brave person is not somebody who goes up to the mountain, who understands the risk, putting themselves and their parties at risk and the people who might have to rescue them.
That person is not brave...to me that person is simply dotish," the Professor said.

Police are yet to reveal what charges Rodriguez is now facing.

Exactly. Just put it on social media that in the event he does not return, no one will be attempting to search for him. If he still take the chance, then its on him as he was warned.

He hasn't committed any crime, in my opinion, to be arrested. He foolishly put himself at risk. All they had to do was leave him in the crater if he had fallen in.

    Is his life.
If you have movie stars acting dangerous stunts like that and worse, why bother about the young man who also wants to become a movie star.
If he was warned a few times and he do not want to take heed then let him risk his own life and if he have to suffer the consequences he would eventually at some point.

Do you arrest and charge a man for committing suicide? Why should anyone risk their lives to go to the volcano to rescue him? What about those mountain climbers who clime mount Everest? What they going there for? How is that benefiting humanity? His live video is very educational and exciting. Lowd de man.

Professor Richards thinks the dread is dotish because he did what a real volcanologist should have done, professor need to liaise with the dread for data that was collected. You watch national geographic, the scientists are right at the lava flow gathering info. you never hear anyone calling them foolish.....free the dread.....
