SVG men accused of obstructing police from capturing fugitive Nyron Erickson
Williams, 37, a resident of Belle Vue, was charged with ‘Obstructing a police officer’. He pleaded not guilty.
Garraway, 42, a resident of Georges North Side, was charged with ‘Perverting the course of justice,’ and was not required to plead when the charge was put to him during their arraignment hearing on Wednesday July 15, 2020 at the Magistrate’s Court.
This is because the matter is heading to the High Court.
Allegations
Court reports of the incident, according to Prosecutor with the Director of Public Prosecution’s Office Kael London, indicates that last Sunday, July 12, 2020, police officers visited Garraway’s residence in Georges North Side to execute a search warrant.
While making their way to the residence, they noticed Williams having a telephone conversation on his cellular phone outside of the building.
The officers immediately shouted ‘Armed, Police! Don’t move!’; however, Williams ran indoors and locked the door behind him.
The officers then proceeded to the house, and overheard someone shouting ‘Police! Police!’ and they observed persons in the house scampering, including fugitive Nyron Erickson.
Erickson made good his escape by running to the back porch and disappearing, along with others unknown, into the nearby bushes in the area.
In the meantime, police officers had to force their way into the house and during their search, found the duo, as well as Trevon Cumberbatch, who was charged with illegal entry, hiding about the house and premises.
Police also found surveillance footage of the property depicting Erickson and others arriving at the property at about 4:00 pm that day.
'I thought it was somebody coming to rob me' - Williams
Prosecutor London said, according to the police reports, Williams said he ran and locked the door behind him because: “I did not know who you were. I thought it was somebody coming to rob me, so I closed the door and went inside.”
Meanwhile, his co-accused Garraway denied knowing Erickson.
He said he was having a party for his construction workers.
Bail
Prosecutor London informed the court that he was objecting to bail for the men; however, attorney for the men, Stephen R. Daniels made a successful application to the court on behalf of his clients.
Magistrate Christilyn Benjamin then admitted that the offences were bailable and offered the men bail.
Williams was granted signed bail in the amount of $20,000 with one surety, while Garraway was granted $60,000 with one surety.
Among their bail conditions, the men have been forbidden to have direct or indirect contact with Erickson, report to the Road Town Police Station between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Friday for Williams, and for Garraway, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
The matter was then adjourned to September 30, 2020.

You hide behind and blog and throw hate because nobody can't see your face. Stop it.
Sound dumb? Yeah just like the rest of you so off topic focused on them rather than the matter at hand. Eediat thing that.
