ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has reported the interception of a large quantity of suspected cannabis.

In a press release on Friday, December 13, 2024, the RVIPF revealed that the suspected cannabis was intercepted during a routine inspection of a container at the Port Purcell Port.

“Custom Officers identified several suspicious items concealed within a shipment. During the routine inspection, the Customs officers discovered multiple vacuum-sealed bags containing green vegetable substance, presumed to be cannabis,” the release continued.

Street value of over $700K

The substance was determined to weigh a total of 71.84 kg (71,840 grams), with an estimated street value of USD 718,400.00.

The matter is currently under investigation and the RVIPF has said additional updates will be provided as necessary.

“The RVIPF commends the diligence and thoroughness demonstrated by the Customs officers in preventing this illegal shipment from entering our communities. The RVIPF continues to collaborate closely with all relevant agencies to ensure the safety and security of the territory,” the RVIPF stated.

HMC call for public assistance

Meanwhile, following the discovery, His Majesty's Cutoms (HMC), in a press release of its own, called on the public to "join the fight against illicit drug trafficing".

Acting Commissioner of Custons, Mr Clinton G. Romney said, "This is a significant win in the Customs Depatment's fight against drug trafficking. It also sends a strong message to those who seek to profit from the importation of illicit drugs."

We would like to know who is bringing in this shipment and who was supposed to pick up this container. This has gotten out of hand now and I wish the Authorities had waited to see who came to claim it so they could arrest their behinds.

Why the police not locking up these politicians. Tortola is in a mess. Greedy leading the blind. Everytime someone call out the politicians on their corruption they divert the attention to island people. As if island man can fix any mess they themselves are making worst. Tortola people dont see past vacations and vanity. A set of shallow clowns. Look at the state of the country.

      Good for what?

God made poison ivy but you won’t eat it.

      Everything has its purpose.

      The reason for THC

THC, the chemical in marijuana that people become addicted to has a specific purpose. Just like roses make thorns to keep animals from eating them, marijuana plants produce THC to keep insects from eating them.

Nicotine works the same way in tobacco. Yes, the Lord made marijuana, and the Lord designed THC, but its purpose is not for human recreation, but for the plant’s defense.

Here’s a really good line that you should underline

God gave man iron. Iron has a purpose. But when men use steel knives to stab people or automobiles to run them over, no one would say in their defense, “God made iron, so he must want people to be stabbed.”

When people take the things that God made for good and use them for evil, that is man’s plan, not God’s purpose.

Then where does the Bible say…

The second question that is often asked then is this: “Where does the Bible tell me not to smoke marijuana?” It doesn’t. Neither does it tell us not to eat strychnine or smoke crack. Nor does it tell us not to smoke Camel cigarettes or not to shoot heroin.

In fact the Bible gives us this direction, All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (1 Corinthians 6:12)

      Lawful, but not expedient

Is marijuana lawful in God’s economy? Yes. Its fiber makes good rope, and perhaps good cloth. Should we then smoke or eat marijuana? The Bible says, “but I will not be brought under the power of any”. Ask any drug-free school teacher, and they will be able to tell you about what happens when a young person comes under the power of marijuana. The effect on a person’s productivity drops off significantly under the influence of THC. The same is true of alcohol and other mind-altering substances. But not only does it decrease productivity, it drastically reduces our chances for salvation. In I Corinthians 6:9-10, the Bible is very clear that drunkenness prevents us from inheriting the kingdom of God.

        You know nothing.
tHC is not addictive. it is just the chemical agent that make you feel good, creative, calm, low stress, positive, definitely non-violent and many other positive things.
Like anything else, too much of anything is not a good thing. But you sound like someone pushing opinions with no knowledge of the subject.
I suggest you stop spouting overly righteous nonsense, roll a little joint, go sit under a large tree and you will learn much about yourself and the world around you.
        Bless up.

There should be a record of the serial number of this container indicating the point of origin and person or business to whom it was consigned. How did the container arrive in the territory. We should be hearing more details on this matter or is it really that easy to bring in drugs under the radar. This is not a good look. What did the COI recommend in this regard....stop playing!!!

Up to this and age, they still refuse to legalize the herb unless they can make a profit from it, just like they're doing with the rum,

I don't know why people are bringing this in when they can grow it in a pot at home for their own medicinal use. The trailer loads are strictly for selling on the streets for profit.

Go without food and water. DO that and you will see under what power hunger and thirst have you. Being drunk is completely different from being high by cannabis. The Israelites burned it along with other herbs to fill the air. Hot boxing the tent they were in and by that way you can expect they got super high.

God made medicine for the mind and man comes with a boogey man story to stop you from healing yourself. The only thing in the bible against weed is the order to follow the law. CHANGE THE LAW LEGALIZE IT. No more issue for chirstians. As a christian I feel the law preventing us from natural herbs is against my religion.

It is only the white warmonger who went over the world and outlawed cannabis. The place of origin India is still colonized and screwed in the head arresting their people for a holy plant.

Slavery was legal too. Would you follow the law by owning & whipping yours then quote the bible on it?
