Suspect arrested for illegal gun importation @ Cyril E. King Airport
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, USVI - A 29-year-old suspect, Jakel Jamel Bell, has been arrested for the importation of a firearm without a license at the Cyril E. King Airport on March 16, 2023, according to the V.I. Police Department.
Bell, who resides in Estate Tutu, St. Thomas, is also facing additional charges of aiding and abetting and conspiracy to import firearms without a license.
The ongoing criminal investigation revealed that Bell was involved in the illegal importation of firearms without proper licensing and conspired with another individual to facilitate the importation.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Magistrate Court of St. Thomas/St. John District, Bell was taken into custody without incident on Thursday. The bail amount has been set at $75,000.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau is currently handling the case and has called for anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
