‘Supa Cop’ rescues woman from mentally ill attacker
“I just want to give a massive shout out to the RBVIPF for their response following my being assaulted by a mentally unstable individual on the street in Road Town this afternoon. Your swift action, care and compassion was so reassuring. Supercop (aka Glenn Callwood), you are my hero. I am so very lucky that you were close by,” Joanna Morris posted on the BVI Community Board on January 13, 2017.
Many complimented the woman’s handling of the situation by not using anger and aggression toward her abuser but rather showing compassion when she said, “Thanks for the concern everyone. I'm ok, shaken up and a bit bruised and grazed but all superficial. Just so relieved that, thanks to the police, the individual in question will hopefully receive the help he needs.”
She further stated, “… but the 'what if' certainly went through my mind. I honestly cannot speak highly enough about the police response, it was incredible.”
There were mixed reactions to the return of Officer Callwood to the police force and moreso the streets as a traffic officer. But it is one decision Commissioner of Police Michael Matthews didn’t regret as he in has defended his decision and alluded to the fact that Mr Callwood had shown compassion and consideration in several instances by issuing cautions and warnings to persons as opposed to ticketing them.
Help mentally ill people
Meanwhile, Ms Morris said she was not interested in pressing charges but hopes that her attacker would get help for his condition.
One Jo commented, “glad you’re OK....very sad no place set in place for the mentally challenged.....we are a tourist destination.....we don't need this happening to the tourists .....”
Ms Morris responded, “I had that exact conversation with the police yesterday. “I don't want this guy incarcerated, I just want him to get the help and support he needs to keep his condition under control and ensure this or worse doesn't happen to someone else.”
This news site tried to contact Morris via social media but no response was received up to press time.
It is not clear at this time who was the person that allegedly attached Ms Morris.

On a lighter note. Was it one of our politicians? They have been assaulting taxpayers for years.
