Success amidst challenges for VI SDA School
The students have not only ranked among the cream of the crop in the Territory but have also forged ahead of every other Secondary School within The Caribbean Union of Seventh-day Adventists.
Difficult Road
While the achievement was great, the road was not an easy one with the VI facing an onslaught from the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria.
It was a difficult journey for the students without electricity, internet, school supplies and even adequate classroom space.
Yet, like the motto of the school's graduation, “Despite the challenges we rise,” the VI SDA, School prevailed with resounding success.
Data analysis reveals the that school obtained 100 per cent passes in Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, Family and Consumer Science, Integrated Science, Office Administration, Electronic Document Preparation Management and Principles of Business.
A further 100 per cent of students qualified for entrance into tertiary educational institutions with 66 per cent meeting government requirement by obtaining passes in five or more subjects. English A, saw a 95 per cent pass rate with Mathematics reaching 80 per cent passes.
Some of the School’s top performers include Pearly G. Oyetunji, Marlina D’Aguiar, Daveon Tapper and Oneisha Christopher, with nine CXC passes, Amal John and Jolecia Williams with eight passes and Angie Perez with seven passes.
