CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI – When it was all said and done, Grammy award winning roots reggae band Steel Pulse delivered at the 2nd annual Bayside Rhythms summer festival, up to the early morning hours of today June 6, 2014, satisfying old fans while making new ones.

If a person came to the show not knowing who Steel Pulse is, by the end of the show that person would have become a fan of the iconic group.

It was yet another ‘Super’ show coordinated by the ‘Super trio’ Kamau A. Georges, Dalan M. Vanterpool and Wasi Philbert, the three key players making up the Bayside Rhythms Team. Steel Pulse Band coupled with the performances of others including one of the Territory’s leading bands out of Virgin Gorda, Final Faze concluded in the wee morning hours as they gave patrons more than their money’s worth.

“We just couldn’t get enough, Final Faze is THE number one band in the BVI tell anybody I say so and well Steel Pulse, was Steel Pulse, nothing but Epic. They got some rhythms that I remember since I was growing up and today those songs are still alive and kicking as if they came out just a month ago,” said a patron Mr. Reuben M. Francis.

His sentiments were echoed by many who couldn’t help but to enjoy an excellent show of Bayside Rhythms among one of the largest crowds to ever cover the sands of the Cane Garden Bay Beach.

Songs of culture, rhythm, blues and soul filled the air with delight as performed by Steel Pulse: Rally Round, Roller skates, Chant a Psalm, Your House, A who’s responsible, Black and Proud, Drug squad, Stepping out, Taxi driver, Bodyguard, Don’t be afraid and Babylon makes the rules just to name a few. Disappointingly, because of time constraints the band left the stage without performing Blues Dance Raid, one of their best known songs.

“At the end of the day it was giving people a high quality show, contributing to the tourism product of the BVI, bring money into the economy and at the same time showing that Bayside Rhythms delivers as promised,” said Mr Philbert.

He commended his team members for the dedication exhibited in ensuring that every ‘I’ was dotted and every ‘T’ crossed.

Mr Philbert said that they had no regrets bringing the legendary band to the Territory especially at a time when the Territory is gearing up to celebrate its 60th year of Emancipation festivities.

“Our show here tonight was just another one that has set the tone for the celebration of that time of year when our forefathers’ blood, sweat and tears are paid tribute to. It’s a time when we also celebrate our lives being able to stand up and represent what those folks would have fought for and left for us to enjoy,” he noted.

Philbert said the event saw persons travelling from various parts of the world to share in nature’s little secret and according to him, “BVI prepare for bigger things to come.”

He said that Bayside Rhythms has continued to emphasize in their own way the importance of bringing in the dollars through tourism as was evident among the large crowd that covered the beach.

I bet you this Myetts lost money on the show just like Quito did. So while all the posters here talking about great show, check the cost to put on the show then count the people times the tickets. Impossible to make a profit.

Did you factor in drinks and food sales in your equation? Did you take into consideration that if they may have lost in revenue, they gained in marketing and exposure?

People always looking for a negative. SMDH.

Nah mon! You do not have your facts straight...How could Myetts lose money when their hotel was full, they sold food and drinks, and the event was not sponsored by Myett's??? Myetts had all to gain! This was a Bayside Rhythms event! This group has events year round so this show was just a drop in the ocean for them.

Minimum 1,000 people would have been needed. Myetts sponsored. Food drink and rooms have a cost too. Bayside still owe people for their last events, the Beres show in St John and will owe this one. Love the idea but the reality is the reality. You know how many complimentary tickets they also gave out? Netty was selling the food. Myetts only has a few small rooms too.

Steel Pulse brought it! So fun! Only thing for the organizers For next time. Promote a little more on Stt and STJ. I know many people who had no idea the event was going on.

The event was AMAZING though. Best show and vibe I have seen in 2+ years living here. Great venue, food, and atmosphere. Thank you!

Once again, negative Annie is glaring his/her ugly head, spewing about things they know nothing about. Unless you are the owner hiding under the cloak of of the fictionous name. None of us know what the cost was to the Venue or Bayside Rythmns, nor should we speculate. The fact is that it was a great event, put on by BVI finest, that was excited flawlessly. Can we please just celebrate that, instead of trying to cast a dark cloud. If anyone can do better than what was done Saturday night, then put do it.....or shut the hell up!!
