'Stay safe & stay home'- Governor Daniel Pruce

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Governor Daniel Pruce has urged residents to remain indoors as the effects of Hurricane Ernesto is still affecting the Virgin Islands.

Governor Pruce in an update to his official Facebook Page today, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, said, “I ask everyone to stay safe and stay home.”

The Governor also said the government is working across all agencies and departments in responding to blocked roads, power disruptions and other issues brought on by the passage of the storm. 

The Governor’s Office also advised the public to stay off the roads for the safety of motorists and essential workers until an official all-clear is issued. 

Power being restored

A number of areas across the VI have been without power, some since last evening. 

The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) in its Restoration Update 1 informed that electricity was restored to Wickham’s Cay, Sandbox Road, Long Bush and portions of Lower Estate. Restoration is in progress for Purcell, Pasea.

    is saying )> I firmly suggest that everyone stay st home / I don't want to he blamed for any unforseen accidents , ( I have observed a trend with some people pointing their unsanitised fingers
    at me , instead of themselves
