Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Dr Ralph Gonsalves and his wife, Eloise Gonsalves, both got their first dose of Sputnik V, the Russian COVID-19 vaccine.

This occurred today, February 9, 2021, at the Levi Latham Health Complex in Mesopotamia as the island deals with the community spread of the virus.

Over the weekend, Gonsalves, 74, made up his mind about taking the vaccine after he initially stated he was giving it ‘prayer consideration.’

St Vincent and the Grenadines received 20 doses of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine.

SVG has also been allocated 45,600 indicative doses of AstraZeneca. The COVAX facility advised that vaccines will be delivered effective mid to late February.
