‘Sponsorship is more than a cheque’ – NAGICO tells Bayside Blazers
Like the team’s management their sponsors support notion that being a sponsor goes beyond the practice of signing and handing over a cheque.
Nagico Insurance has been the most recent entity to have made an impression on the team. Last evening June 3, 2014 Nagico’s Managing Director Mr Shan Mohamed accompanied by Marketing Executive Sharlene S. Pond and Assistant Manager, Accountant/Claims Mr Ted Francis had a power packed pep talk with the team.
“Nagico wants to be associated with a team that plays as a team, a team that is a good ambassador to the sport as well as for your sponsors because you are the face of the team,” Mr Mohamed told members of the team during a pep talk last evening.
Key in the talk to the team was the importance of discipline, a word that Mr Mohamed said could not be over emphasized as seen in a number of games he has watched over the years. “You have to be able to respect the coach’s advice, the referee’s decision is very important.”
He told the team that as a sponsor they are going to be hoping and looking to see that they have no issues of suspensions, fighting and such things. “Because I think that not only are we ambassadors for the sports we are also ambassadors for the young people of the Virgin Islands and I think that is something to take very serious.”
Among the guiding lights of advice given were the importance for them to play as a team and win the tournament and in so doing remember the importance the maintaining a friendly relationship and remembering those who would have invested in them.
“There will be good and bad days and how you rally today will determine where you go tomorrow,” Mohamed told the team.
Parallel to the pep talk, the Bayside Blazers Basketball Team launched their 2014 raffle last night with tickets costing $5.00 each. The prizes are said to be very attractive.
