Some fans clearly didn't mind the noise as they partied hard at the cruise pier. Photo: VINO

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Instead of peace and love, a war of words developed today, August 5, 2013 at the cruise pier in Road Town between men who previously shared a microphone and stage just over a year ago.
As today’s Rise & Shine tramp made its way down from the Delta service station at Pasea to the cruise pier, jouvert revellers were asked to take sides at the end in an apparent ongoing spat between the VI Showtime and Showtime bands.
Some fans may have even been expecting a traditional Caribbean style ‘sound clash’ at the most but things turned personal as accusations and name calling found new heights between grown men. One band member also called out the other band for allegedly paying for their songs to be played on a local radio station, calling it a move reserved for punks.
Instead of the banging sounds of either band’s successful hits, animosity was thick in the air with metaphorical shots being fired between camps as chants flew back and forth.
There were shouts of “no s#itty band” from one side and “ya like man Bo$$” from the other side as the goading continued between the chief protagonists, Raul ‘Jugo’ Sprauve and Eustace ‘Boss’ Freeman with immature chants and insinuations about one of the band leader’s sexual orientation interspersed between supposedly related tracks.
Many of the fans didn’t seem to mind at all, as it appeared to be ‘mete’ heaven for most of them who chimed in to follow the name calling instructions given by the respective band leaders.
But it was the VI youngsters who turned up for the revelry that may have been most affected by the two warring factions, despite the several calls by politicians and community leaders for a peaceful and amicable Emancipation Festival season.
For those out of the loop, some of the band members of Showtime and VI Showtime shared one band name (Showtime) until an acrimonious split late last year followed after six (6) Road March titles together.
Earlier, jouvert revellers made their way into the streets as early as 4 A.M. to gather behind their respective bands (Showtime and VI Showtime) as they tramped their way ecstatically along the James Walter Francis dual carriageway into de Castro Street and over to Administration Drive before coming to a halt in the vicinity of the cruise pier.
It remains to be seen which band will cop this year's Road March title following today's parade. According to one police officer, there were no reports of any fights along the entire route.

IT WAS NICE BUT I MUST SAY THIS JUGO FOR VI SHOW TIME TAKE YOU LICKS LIKE A BOY................... TELL BIG SHIT, TRASH 'SUCK POP', YOU COULD NEVER RUN BVI WITH THEIR RUDE BEHAVIOUR OR AND BIG NASTY, YOU GUYS ARE FOOLS TRYING TO CONTROL RISE AND SHINE LET THEM BAND PLAY, YOU GUYS ALONG SIDE JUGO TALKING TRASH OVER ON THE CAY ABOUT BOSS.................THIS IS A FUN THING YOU GUYS TAKING IT PERSONAL IN THE END....................SHOW TIME WAS HOLDING THE CROWN. BLAH BLAH!!
Stop making it like it is some major war that's going on. Tell the radio DJ to stop hyping up the "war" thing!
They had fun rivalries not personal BS. There's a difference. System and Primetime had some of the best clashes but they NEVER EVER got so personal and petty with it looking to fight people. I remember the days of Jamband and Magi clashing and it was good back and forth, nothing personal. Everybody chose their bands and they had lyrical wars and used the songs. What is happening with these two show time bands shows exactly why BVI is in the hot water it's in. It's people always talk unity but have no clue what it's about then they wonder why our culture is fast fading. Do you see the expats behaving this way? Come on, it was uncalled for. Let the music talk for itself. Bash eachother in the playful way that bands usually do, let the lyrics speak and keep it fun, leave the personal attacks behind. I never hear Friday, Chicken, Fredo etc. talk about who's faggot and get personal with people so don't try to condone this fing bs by mentioning the greats. Back then it was much better. You could tramp in your gold chain and don't worry about the idiots. Now it's just a bunch of young angry AH which is why most sensible people avoid jouvert and jams like a plague.
First of all this funny I attended the entire jouvert and everyone was with Boss showtime band , the response to the vi showtime desperation chant about who like man from boss was "hear the children them over there" they whipped jugo them band with class and called it a day finishing off showtime dominant Festival.
I personally think you blew this story out of proportion because what was said there should have been left there.. if you missed it oh well.... now all these people who didnt come sitting here judging the bands. It is called acting, a lil entertainment for the fans. after all is said and done these two boys going there own way. PEOPLE GET OVER IT...
the band clash is all for the fans.. it's more exciting. No one was hurt and everybody enjoyed it. Kudos to Jougo and Boss for making jouvert 2013 a spectacular one.
