Shady response by Premier as 'Rome burns & Pharoahs party' – Fahie
In a subsequent address on August 3, 2017, Hon Fahie said Premier Smith choose a shady medium response as opposed to facing the fire in the HoA.
"Instead of debating the Motion in the HOA, the Premier chose the safety of a recording studio, where he would not be constrained by the truth. The citizens will not be fooled! Perception management, duplicitous statements and misleading economic statistics cannot buy groceries, cannot take you to the movies and cannot assist you in giving your kids a ride at Coney Island," he said.
On August 2, 2017, all the members in the HoA stay paste to their chairs refusing to even second the No-Confidence motion moved by Hon Fahie which meant that there was no way for it to be debated in the Honourable House.
VIP needs new candidates
Meanwhile, Hon Fahie said it was time that the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) recruited 12 new candidates. Some questioned whether the Opposition Leader was throwing jabs at Honourable Julian Fraser, RA (R3).
Hon Fahie said that the move of the other members of the legislature including his lone colleague in the Opposition, Honourable Fraser, RA, is a move that shows they ignored the failures of the Ministry of Finance and by extension the Minister of Finance.
Notably, Hon Fraser, RA was not in the HoA when the Motion was read.
Rome burns while Pharaohs Party
The former education minister likened the Virgin Islands (VI) to Rome and its political directorates to Pharaohs.
“No one was under any illusion. Just as I am convinced that one member in the House of Assembly cannot win the votes over 12 members, I am also convinced that twelve votes in the House of Assembly cannot win the votes of over fifteen thousand voters. In addition, to hope and the grace of God our citizens need corrective actions. Rome continues to burn while our Pharaohs continue to party. Our citizens must see corrective actions by our leaders,” the Opposition leader noted.
He said that everyone who wants to be honest and fair must realize that the Territory's Finances are going down a slippery slope and so is the economy. “The urgent changing of the guard at the position of the Minister of Finance is in the best interest of all at this time.”
"Notwithstanding, I remain convinced that it gave the opportunity for a moment of reflection! I am aware that one must not only be prepared to merely criticize, but must also be prepared to offer solutions."

The premiere couldn't that pressure hon Fahie so the party cover his back. I would have done the same. Let the man live a bit longer age is a factor. Pressure burst pipe.
You did your part and the people will not forget. It was a bold and radical move. Don't mind the noise the public knows all is not well.
