Set It Off begin defence of Summer Jam title with win over Without A Doubt

VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- The 2024 Summer Jam League tipped off at A. Jeffrey Caines Arena in Virgin Gorda on Saturday, July 27, 2024, when Tortola’s Set It Off began the defence of their A Division title with victory over Without A Doubt.

In the opening C Division game, On a Mission devoured Elite Sharks, thanks to a superstar performance from Ethan Winchester.

Winning start

Set It Off began the defence of their title in 2023 with a loss to Ice Connection; however, this time around they made no slip-ups as they overcame Without A Doubt, 65-60, to signal their intentions of a 3-peat this year.

Shamarr A. George aka ‘Shumba’ and Ray D. Victor shouldered the team to the win, with 19 points each. George grabbed a whopping 19 rebounds and effected 4 steals.

The men offering resistance for Without A Doubt were Jevon K. Serrant aka ‘Twin’ (14 points), Stephano K. Paul (13 points), and Jolyon J.D. Wilson (13 points).

‘The Ethan Winchester Show’

The C Division encounter between On A Mission and Elite Sharks turned out to be the Ethan Winchester show.

Winchester dropped in 21 points, pulled 16 rebounds, and made 16 steals, as On A Mission won 56-38.

Also chipping in for On A Mission were Neal Kotak with 15 points and De’onte George, who had 10.

Caeden Alister (9 points), and Trevon Stevens (8 points) were the top scorers for Elite Sharks.

18 teams are registered across A, B and C Divisions.
