Scores flood Anegada for 11th Lobster Festival 2023
As part of this year’s events, there were several new features at the BVI Tourist Board organized event.
Among the new features, were additional ferries from within the territory including, for the first time, New Horizon Ferry from Jost Van Dyke along with ferries from neighboring USVI in St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St John districts.
The addition of a fun park facilitated by the BVI Recreation Trust also served as a new feature.
Smaller crowds?
However, many noted that crowds were less than that of 2022.
Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley (R9) also shared the view that the turnout was much smaller than in previous years.
"It was a lot of energy this year, the vibe was definitely very good but the crowd was not as big as last year."
However, like years of the past, restaurants like Big Bamboo, Lil Bit, Anegada Reef, and Potter By The Sea remained the hot spots for lobster lovers.
Hon Wheatley added, “We definitely saw many more people last year, I am not sure what's the reason. Maybe the PR needed to be better."
