SCB man charged for allegedly fighting & damaging cooler
The defendant, who told the court that he works as a welder’s helper, is currently without representation before the court.
According to the Crown’s case as read by prosecutor Herbert Potter, the defendant went to Greenland to play football with some friends on February 10, 2013 and visited the Wayside Bar at Fat Hogs Bay afterwards with other players to celebrate.
A second named defendant who was not present, Rueben Reyes of Duffs Bottom, allegedly pushed Encarnacion twice while they were inside the bar. Encarnacion reportedly went outside and returned and it was at this time that prosecutors alleged that he was assaulted by Reyes. A fight then started between the two and they both allegedly threw bottles across the room at each other, causing persons to run outside of the bar.
Encarnacion allegedly threw a bottle that damaged a refrigerator reportedly valued at $700. Both defendants reportedly received injuries and were later treated at Peebles Hospital and issued medical certificates.
The men were subsequently arrested and charged. An audio/video interview was also conducted with Encarnacion. He was placed on $35,000 signed bail with one surety and asked to surrender his travel documents and instructed to have no contact with the other defendant.
The matter comes up for hearing again on November 8, 2013.
