Safe Haven organises Thanksgiving Food Drive for FSN

JOHNSON’S GHUT, Tortola, VI- The Safe Haven Transitional Centre, which assists chronically homeless individuals to develop the skills and resources for independent living, is showing its support to a similar organisation, Family Support Network (FSN), by organising a food drive.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive is ongoing and will end on November 17, 2023.

Safe Haven Transitional Centre, which is an entity of the Ministry of Health and Social Development (MH&SD), said if any businesses or individuals wish to donate, items can be dropped off at the Safe Haven Transitional Centre located in Johnson’s Ghut behind Davis Funeral Home between the hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

What can be donated?

Items that can be donated would include but are not limited to the following: Non perishables, water, canned goods, dried fruits and nuts, cereals, rice, juice mixes, noodles, and pastas.  

Safe Haven Transitional Centre said the food drive is to assist with restocking the FSN food pantry for Thanksgiving for vulnerable members of the Virgin Islands.  

“Your contribution to this Food Drive would make a great impact and would be an invaluable asset as we assist Family Support Network (FSN) restock their pantry.  

“If any have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 284-468-5815 and we will make sure to answer all queries,” Safe Haven Transitional Centre stated.

    A good deed is a good deed but why are we talking about thanksgiving here? Did the pilgrims land on plymouth rock here and tricked the natives after they had a feast with us only then to kill them off and trick them with words of double meaning to take their land and marginalize them on their own territory like in North America and Gaza? No wonder we're such a confused people.
