Sabals Law to represent IDEA Inc. & Hugh E. Darley vs VI Gov't
Darley had told this news site that he had retained a third law office as he encountered difficulties with the two previously retained.
While one of them had business with the government, the other did not want to take the case is it might have affected their future dealings with the National Democratic Party government, Darley told this news site.
Too toxic
“We had to change firms because one firm felt like the matter was too toxic and they did not want to have a conflict in the future as they had business with the Government,” Mr Darley told Virgin Islands News Online in an exclusive interview on February 3, 2016.
Mr Darley is now claiming that Government owes him some $2M for his drawings. However, Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Hon D. Orlando Smith recently claimed that Mr Darley was paid all his monies.
“When we did not close I agreed to help the government for 3 months to pull the documents together so that the government could pursue it on their own and that is when we entered into an agreement,” Darley said.
Drawings to be used under licence
He said that it was at this point that it was agreed that his company would allow the government the use of the drawings under license. He added that it was shortly after then it was agreed that the government would pay $25,000 per month for the use of the drawings which had already been approved by Town and Country Planning. “I have only received $100,000 of a two million dollar agreement.”
Darley related that following his arrival in the VI on December 21, 2015, he invited officials of the National Democratic Party (NDP) government to sit with him and discuss the way forward but to no avail.
A lawsuit has not yet beeen filed, however.
Threatened to tell international community that VI Govt couldn't be trusted
Darley had also threatened to disclose to the international investment community that the VI Government led by Premier Smith could not be trusted. He said too that the VI Government’s reputation has already been put in jeopardy.
“I will let the investment community know the BVI Government is not to be trusted. Their reputation is already in jeopardy,” said Darley.
He had earlier told this news site that he planned legal action to recoup monies owed to him for his drawings, noting that he is still seeking an amicable resolution and that he never intended to have a battle with the Government of the Virgin Islands in the media.
“We would like to reach a resolution that is good for both parties and we will try to meet with the Premier and see if we would resolve this amicably between the two parties,” Mr Darley had said.

Sabals got a right take his money. He threatening to tell the international community... like most who can't get their way with us, want to see us destroyed. But, Darley, the BVI been here long before you and will remain without you. We the people have the greatest will and a better way will be made for us.
Where were you when it was suggested that the birds rule this paradise? Where were you when our people bartered for survival? Where were you when they left our ancestors here to die? Our forefathers toiled to make this place what it is now. You coming here with your hate and greed and trying to get rich off the sweat of local taxpayers because you couldn't make it no other place? I would have ensured, that you stayed outside the BVI while you fight your case -- Wake up, people, the Edomites are coming! Jung1MO.
Hard to believe he intends to do business with other Governments
