ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has noted an increase in reports of individuals attempting to gain unauthorised access to vehicles by pulling at the exterior door handles within the Road Town area.

The RVIPF in a press release today, September 18, 2023, said it strongly advises residents to take proactive measures to safeguard their vehicles by ensuring all doors and windows are securely locked, especially when left unattended in parking lots during the day and night.

Residents are also reminded to ensure that valuables remain concealed from view.

The public is also asked to be on the lookout for individuals loitering and acting suspiciously in or around parking lots.

The problem with securing my vehicle is it is so hot, that I must leave my window cracked open to get rid of this unbearable heat so my car doesn't explode. It is a shame we must live this way when we never had to years ago. I remember falling asleep at home, forgetting to lock my outside door and no one entered to burglarize me. Now I have to make sure everything is secure before I can relax. I want my old Tortola back! To all of the top officials growing up here, don't you feel ashamed that this has gone on much too long? How will your children be raised now in this unsafe environment? Let them know you are part of the problem that has allowed people to do what they want with a slap on the wrist.

We know the culprit that is always walking around looking for things to THIEF. She's always checking people vehicle doors, but nothing will be done because of who she is.

Because of who she is? They are just tired of arresting her. Meds can't help in removing sticky fingers. Plus, she's happy in and out of prison.

I saw the lady at it again on Friday. She was across from Bobby's parking lot and after the police spoke with her, she started back again next to the lot by the church near the gas station.

Gumbs is another nuisance! up and down the street with his pants below is butt and he don't wear underwear. Just NASTY!!!!

I absolutely do not condone any crime but hear me well a poor economy and rise in crime goes hand in glove.

The Commissioner of Police cannot be blamed for crime but he must take blame for poor management of the police force. He seems to think that unless he gets an ocean of money and the passing (as is now) oppressive police act, he cannot fight crime. This is a poor excuse. He has more officers than in the history of the force yet he is still failing to ensure continuous police pressence in Road Town & territory wide especially the known hot spots. He is a failure but it is being covered up because he is from the UK and under the Governor responsibility.

CCTV cameras have been installed but the question to be answered is, are they working? Just like all things BVI, wonderful ideas are implemented with no plan for maintenance or repair. Even if plans are made, monies are always been shifted to the next thing that wasn’t even a priority in the first place.

are addicted to driving everywhere there are roads. Very few walk or ride pedal bikes. Realistically there is no public transport system. So if you leave a vehicle unattended in car parks or on the road for many hours during the day and night it is fair game for the desperate thieves and criminals roaming these islands.

Last week I was at the stop light by the Red Cross building and the light had just turned green. Then out of nowhere, that E.E. perv ran in front of my car waving with this psychotic grin trying to get my attention....'like he never saw a woman before, and he was willing to risk his life to see one". I WAS SOOOOOO MAD! The Government better do something about these mentally ill people roaming the streets!

A few months back, a family member's car alarm system malfunctioned, and the key would not start the car. Gumbs was observed walking away from the car when she approached. It took a week to get the key replaced because the local key company didn't have time to assist. This costed her a week in car rental fees. This is getting out of hand now...something must be done immediately!!!
