The first-ever regional police pageant was organised by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in April 2017, as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.
This year, the Caribbean Federation of Police Welfare Association is hosting the regional competition.
“We are delighted to take part and we have an officer who is interested and we will present that officer to the public,” Officer Zamfir Adams said on Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, July 16, 2024.
Candidate holds a Bachelor's Degree
The new Miss Royal Virgin Islands Police Force who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Justice and is also an active member of the community, will take part in the regional competition in Antigua on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Though her identity is being kept a secret until coronation day, Officer Adams said the new Miss Royal Virgin Islands Police Force “will be a real good plus” for the Virgin Islands.
Policing, Officer Adams added, is a male-dominated field and so “to have the women amongst us we always appreciate that and so it’s always a plus for them to get the opportunity to speak on issues on what affects them as women and show support to each other.”
Constable Jeoverne S. Webb is the reigning Regional Police Queen.
Webb, who was also a guest on Monday’s Talking Points, said her reign was marred by the passage of Hurricane Irma as it resulted in her not doing “too much” during her reign.
Constable Webb also defended police officers taking part in activities such as pageantry, explaining that it forms part of community policing.
“The more active that we are involved with the community and the closer that net that we build with our community it sometimes makes it easier for us to do our jobs,” Constable Webb said.
Soca Monarch J Versatile is among the guest artists scheduled to perform during Friday’s coronation.
