ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Acting Commissioner of Police (CoP) Jacqueline E. Vanterpool, while admitting that statistical records show 2024 was “challenging,” said the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) remains “relentless in our fight against crime” and is resolved with a “heightened commitment to seek out and bring offenders of the law to account.”

The RVIPF, she added, looks ahead to this year, 2025, with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to foster a safer and more connected community.

'Resetting, regrouping & reclaiming core values'

The Acting CoP, through her New Year message posted to the RVIPF's Facebook page on January 7, 2025, also said that the RVIPF is resetting, regrouping, and reclaiming its core values.

“We recognise the importance of evolving to meet the needs of a changing community while staying true to the principles that define effective policing,” she stated.

The RVIPF’s focus for 2025 with be guided by three “powerful principles” which are ‘any answers, any manifestations, and any evidence’.

“Any answers. We understand that you have questions about crime, justice, and community safety. Our promise to you is to seek and provide those answers with transparency, integrity, and diligence…Any manifestations this year, you will see our commitments brought to life through action. We are not just making promises. We are here to deliver results…Any evidence? Progress must be seen and felt. We are committed to providing tangible evidence of our efforts from reducing crime rates to strengthening community trust,” Vanterpool explained.

The Acting CoP, a Virgin Islander, said the police force wants the members of the Virgin Islands public to see the impact of their work and to know that they are moving in the right direction.

“As we reset, we reflect on where we have been and acknowledge the lessons learned. As we regroup, we draw strength from one another and from you, the community. And as we reclaim our mission, we do so with renewed energy to serve with pride, professionalism, and compassion,” she added.

‘Together we can achieve great things’- Vanterpool

Speaking to business owners, educators, faith-based leaders, parents, and young people, she said their partnership is essential to creating safer communities.

“Together, we can achieve great things and ensure that the Virgin Islands remain a place of peace, opportunity, and prosperity for all,” Vanterpool stated.

Reaching out to those who she said may feel unheard or uncertain, Vanterpool reassured them that the RVIPF sees, hears, and is there for them.

“Our mission is to solve and protect you not just through enforcement, but through building relationships and fostering trust and confidence… Together as a force and as a community, we will reset, regroup, and reclaim the peace and security that every visitor deserves,” Vanterpool added.

Why do you believe that she deserved to be the commissioner? What is her qualifications (degrees)? Is it the decades in the service? Is it her Stella job performance? Is it her POB? Are there any other candidates more qualified? If others are more qualified more experience at the position what would be the reason to give her the nod? Is this an experiment?
