ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) did their community policing duty by taking part in Reading is Fun Week at schools in the Territory.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, members of the RVIPF visited and read at the BVI SDA Primary School on Tortola and the Bregado Flax Primary School & the Little Rainbow School on Virgin Gorda, a statement on the RVIPF’s social media said.

This year’s Reading is Fun Week was held under the theme ‘Reading Transforms You’ and activities were aimed at encouraging students to develop a love for reading.

The readers from the RVIPF were Sgt. Tavernier, Auxiliary Officer Henry, Constable Thomas-Itwaru and Constable Baynes. Officers read the books, Sam the detective, I Promise by Lebron James and Hooray for Fly Guy.

The RVIPF in its statement said, “This was done for the students to build a connection between spoken and written words, who will develop a strong vocabulary.”

Reading is Fun Week 2024 took place from Monday, October 7 to Friday October 11, 2024.
