ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– A Sergeant of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) was officially charged yesterday afternoon, November 4, 2021, for Breach of Trust and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Lenroy Samuel, 41 was arrested and later charged after a search of his residence uncovered several rounds of ammunition, the RVIPF stated in a press release today, November 5, 2021.

Commissioner of Police Mark Collins had stated in past that any officer found to have engaged in criminal activity will be swiftly brought to justice.

“It is very important for an officer of the law to have integrity and abstain from any form of illegal activity. Those found to be on the wrong side of the law will be arrested, charged and prosecuted,” he noted.

Samuel is being held in custody pending his appearance at the Magistrate’s Court.

CoI on RVIPF?

In the past a number of police officers have been charged for breach of trust and looting after the hurricanes of 2017.

It is just some of the reasons many believe the RVIPF, under the Governor’s Office, should have also been investigated by the Commission of Inquiry in the VI.

After serving approximately 27yrs in the RVIPF and then retire you all guys are embarrassing me. I love the RVIPF with all my heart and the people of the BVI. As a matter of fact it is my home.
But when the administration pass and present stop treating police officers that come from other Police Forces better than those that trained initially as members of the RVIPF in Barbados or Tortola, they will see the difference.

All of them come from other Forces and reaping the sweet.

Now the bad cops are being rounded up, proving to the government what we citizens have been saying is true, that they cannot be trusted and why we are scared to give information. If the Police tell their partners in crime what we reported on them, we will be sitting ducks. Now here is the proof in the pudding.

He should be ashamed of himself and another embarrassment to the Police Department. Shame shame shame and no retirement money for him, but jail time is earned. Case closed!

I agree. That could have been handled internally. A demotion or something why take the man pension and fire and embarrass him like that. I think they either had more intel on him or wanted him gone for whatever reason.

This is not such a big deal. If the police officer knows the Premier all he has to do is touch base with him let him form a committee to get him off. if he can tamper with the judicial branch he could do the same for law enforcement branch
