RVIPF kicks off Police Week events to mark 55 years

- Under theme ‘Making the right changes for the right reasons’

DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI– After a hiatus of five years, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is marking its 55th year of service as a police force this week under the slogan, ‘Making the right changes for the right reasons.’

Police Week officially opened with officers, retired officers and staff of the RVIPF attending service at the New Life Baptist Church on Sunday, October 9, 2022, on Tortola and at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Virgin Gorda. This was followed in the afternoon by a RVIPF Football Match on Virgin Gorda Recreation Field.

According to a press release from the RVIPF on October 9, 2022, during this week, the RVIPF will hold several events to celebrate the contributions of officers and staff of the RVIPF.

Schedule of events

On Wednesday, October 10, the Police Week committee invites the public to an afterwork grill night at the Road Town Police Station where officers and staff will create many grilled treats for purchase. The evening’s highlights will be food and plenty entertainment.

Friday is the customary Bingo Night at the Road Town Police Station with plenty prizes including the jackpot of $1,000, electronics, gift certificates and much more.

On Saturday, the week celebration will close out with a Sports Day named in honour of the late Inspector Leonard Fahie at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds. Officers will part take in light competition in an effort to build comradery. The public is invited to view and participate.
