RVIPF cautions of ‘criminal offence’ to knowingly transmit HIV, STIs
This comes as a recent media report quoted officials at the BVI Health Ministry saying there is an increase in persons across various demographics of the VI contracting HIV and STI’s with over 262 cases recorded in the last 5 years.
This has further prompted health officials to estimate that there are far more cases of HIV and STI’s in the VI community than what has so far been recorded.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a June 9, 2024, advisory said it takes note of the data and that its Family and Juvenile Unit wishes to endorse this concern, which it considers quite timely. “We would also wish to add that given the steady increase in these numbers, children and young adults, as a particularly vulnerable group, may be exposed to the associated risks,” the advisory added.
Criminal offence
The RVIPF has urged parents to augment their supervision of their children and where necessary, get them tested.
“It may constitute serious criminal offences if individuals are aware of their positive status, and still engage in unprotected sexual activity with partners without declaring their status.”
Described as ‘reckless and selfish’ behaviour, police added that such actions are covered under Section 325 of the Criminal Code, Revised Edition 2013, which stipulates a maximum prison sentence of up to fourteen (14) years.
“In keeping with the Ministry of Health's advisory, the RVIPF urges members of the public to get tested and act responsibly to avoid serious criminal liability,” the advisory added.

parents get you daughters tested and dress them appropriately from prying eyes. Encourage your daughters to practice good morals and self respect.
a lot of the females are following rap/dancehall culture which preaches sex , drugs and violence.
parents need do their part but tbh sometimes the apple don't fall from the tree sigh.
it is alarming that there's so many young females (in school or just completed highschool) are invested in festival, juve, carnival etc
and if you think its "culture" to have your 10-19 Year old daughter dressing half naked and throwing her self on random men then you are part of the problem..
them to abstain but also teach them how to take care of themselves. Precaution is better than cure! Stay safe everyone. God bless the Nurses, doctors and all medical personnel and the people who call the Virgin Islands home!
them std stuff use to scare me in school and thought me to protect myself
clearly a lot of young men and women aren't strapping up and protecting their sex life
a lot of young females (school kids) are also getting involved with street men/drugmen (young boyz as well) who have multiple partners they need to be careful.

That's another symptom of the lgbtq+ It starts with them but ends with us not 'discriminating' against people with HIV by asking them to take a test upon entry.
