Roundabout collision slows Road Town traffic

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Sometime around 4:45 pm today, January 16, 2021, a two-car collision around the Wickhams Cay roundabout in uptown Road Town, slowed evening traffic in the area.

Sources say one of the drivers was not clear about the roundabout lane, which resulted in a collision with the other car.

Up to publication time, it appears that no one had been injured, however, both vehicles sustained minor damages.

Police are on the scene investigating the matter.

        I totally agree with you. I have seen persons speeding up when others try to merge into the traffic coming off the round about. Just ridiculous. Turn it back to a single lane going around the round about.

    Education is key! I would suggest that DMV do a simulation on how to use the roundabout and at the intersection leading on to admin drive from Noel Lloyd park. Some drivers still do not know how to navigate these areas.

    That roundabout and all the others needs tearing up and replacing with mini roundabouts. More road surface means better traffic flow. And the traffic lights should be replaced with mini roundabouts as well.

    Admin drive needs a stop light like the one by patsy lake building on the high way. The stop sign is on the ground and many people don't pay attention. Accident waiting to happen. Let's be proactive. The round about by shell gas station needs to be down size to allow traffic to flow much better.
